The British Museum Collection: Human Image at Seoul Art Center's Hangaram Art Museum

There's an Albert Einstein quote that goes, "The distinction between the past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion." Perhaps museums function as places where this illusion is a bit less persistent. Collection of artifacts in neatly curated spaces create a sort of alternate illusion, one where past, present, and future exist all at once.

This is especially true at The British Museum Collection: Human Image currently at Seoul Art Center's Hangaram Art Museum. The exhibit consists of representations of us, humans, across all time and cultures, from Ancient Egypt to now. The exhibit displays that we have a universal desire to represent ourselves. This leaves the impression that we are all truly are one, the human race. And, not only one in race, but one in time. We are one with those who preserved the skulls of loved ones with clay and sea shells and we will be one with future generations who will probably preserve our image with holograms.
