Situated on the 3rd floor of the Lotte Outlet mall, it's well-suited for dropping in to fill up on a variety of food options after filling up your shopping cart.

Perhaps the most surprising selection was a sort of pomegranate punch containing tomato, cucumber, and herbs. The cool combination of flavors is sure to refresh those fatigued after an afternoon of bargain hunting.

Find The Charim (The 차림) on the 3rd floor of Lotte Outlet located near Gasan Digital Complex subway station exit 4.

'Gypsy Cinema concert' hold in Mapo Artcenter on Saturday March 26th.

 

The purpose of this concert is release celebrate about Park, juwon's new album' Gypsy Cinema'.

 

'Gypsy Cinema' consist of movie OSTs like 'Love story', 'Dactor Zhivago',' A man and A woman', 'Almost a love story' and 'Life is beautiful'.

 

Main guitartist, Park, Ju-won is one of the best guitarists who arranged and played in this album as gypsy style.

 

Sometime he performed in korean broadcast like 'Radio star'.

 

 

Before performance, i went to coffee shop in Mapo Art Center.

 

There are already a lof of people who wait for 'Gypsy Cinema'.

 

Price of menu is reasonable and coffee taste was nice for me.

 

But this store is small, so many customer need to stand for waiting.

 

 

I can receive for ticket in ticket box located in next coffe shop.

 

Because of my GIV editor ID card, i could have ticket for free.!!!!

 

Althrough my seat was not good seat, I really moved for this concert !

 

I LOVE "GYPSY CINEMA CONCERT " AND "PARK, JUWON"!!

 

He was amazing, perfect ! and funny .

 

Park, Juwon playied with guests who are famous, perfect and funny.

 

They are Bandoneonlist, vocalist, violinlist, vibraphone and saxophone.

 

I spent enjoying awesome music over 2 hours.

 

 

 

After performence, Park, juwon's celebrity signing held in Mapo Art Center.

 

And his album including first album, second album, third album and NEW ALBUM soled to customers.

 

 

There are long line for celebrity signing!

 

so i couldn't have his signing

 

 

I realized guitar and Gypsy attractive .

 

He is the best guitarist who play beatiful music.

Turandot, Musical

Location: D-cube, 7th floor, Shindorim Subway Station . Turandot is a musical which appeared between February 17, until March 13th, at the D-cube Theater, in Shindorim.


"Turandot" Musical.

This musical has its roots in a Mongolian and Persian fable, that tells of a love between a prince, the Suitor and his pursuit of a princess' affections. The princess' personality throughout the musical,until the end embrace, is full of pride and contempt for her Suitor, the prince.

 The princess spurned the prince's advances continually, and constantly ridicules him until the final curtain, when finally they embrace, to the rapturous applause of the packed audience.

This follows revelations of her mother 's tragic death when it is revealed that she had died from a suicide after being victimized by a man; these revelations come to light through Turandot's dream, which show why she had become so contemptuous and proud towards men; Her mother's suffering and death had caused Turandot to be embittered towards every male except her beloved father, the King, and this explained her rejection of the prince's advances.

Before the final embrace, the prince is allowed to win her hand only if he can answer a series of three riddles, of which if he fails, he faces death. Turandot resists to participate in such a vile contest for her hand in marriage, for she cannot bare to stoop so low as to allow him to win her favour.

The history of this Musical

Turandot is a Persian word and the name means "the daughter of Turan"; Turan is a region of Central Asia, formerly part of the Persian Empire. In 1710, while writing the first biography of Genghis Khan, the French scholar François Pétis de La Croix published a book of tales and fables combining various Asian literary themes.

One of his longest and best stories derived from the history of Mongol princess, Khutulun. In his adaptation, however, she bore the title Turandot, meaning "Turkish Daughter," the daughter of Kaidu. Instead of challenging her suitors in wrestling, Pétis de La Croix had her confront them with three riddles. In his more dramatic version, instead of wagering mere horses, the suitor had to forfeit his life if he failed to answer correctly.

Fifty years later, the popular Italian playwright Carlo Gozzi made her story into a drama of a "tigerish woman" of "unrelenting pride." In a combined effort by two of the greatest literary talents of the era, Friedrich von Schiller translated the play into German as Turandot, Prinzess in China, and Goethe directed it on the stage in Weimar in 1802.

This musical in Shindorim was rich in production and melody and, although I am not a fan of opera,  this was half way between an opera and a musical,  with many of the dialogue sung to melodies.  It is visually and musically rich.

 As a person from multi-culture family, the only criticism I have is that I wish that this production as well would serve the foreign community much better if they took a leaf out of Sejong Arts Center, uptown Seoul, and displayed subtitles by the side of the stage to read what was going on. Otherwise, your enjoyment would be stifled due to not understanding the foreign language. This would have made the experience much more pleasant and brought it into the digital age.

Café Breezin @ Samcheong Dong

Samcheong Dong is one of the famous place for café and coffee lovers in Seoul as there are a lot of special coffee shops here besides the franchise one. Also, due to its location, a lot of visitors like to drop by Samcheong Dong for a cup of coffee after a day visit in Hanok village and Gyeongbok Palace!

Café Breezin is located at the middle of Samcheong Street, a 10-minute walk from Anguk station. The rooftop on the 3^rd floor is the highlight of the café! You can enjoy the breeze with a cup of coffee and share the best moment with your friends here. Since it is now the season of strawberries in Korea, you can pick a choice simply here if you are strawberries lovers!!!

Strawberry cream smoothie(￦8,000) is a seasonal menu here, on top of smashed strawberry juice, there is a layer of cream with fresh strawberries toppings. A great choice with the smoothie is a plate of Strawberry ice-cream waffle(￦14,000), on top of the waffle, there are a lot of fresh strawberries and ice cream. Both of them are the best menu here. If you are coming to Seoul by the end of April, don’t miss the chance of tasting the strawberry menu! Another recommendations of the drink menu are a glass of fresh mango juice (￦8,000) and Orange Ade (￦7,000)!!

It is always full of visitors in Samcheong Dong during daytime. If you prefer a quiet environment, I suggest you to come here during night time as most of the visitors spend their time somewhere else during night time.

When I  visited "Puja," Nepalese resturant in Dong-dae-moon, I was pleasantly surprised in a number of ways. 

First of all, when I saw the dishes and tasted the cuisine I could have easily thought this was either an Indian restaurant or a Chinese restaurant,  for the dishes coming out of the kitchen resembled such nation's cuisine.

The price was also similar to Korean restaurants as well, even though this was a very unique and family-atmosphered restaurant. 

It is located among old traditional Korean restaurants, but for me, walking on this main street, it was unique and exotic because I felt like I was going back to Korea thirty years ago.

In Seoul, there are probably only a few of such restaurants. I also noticed that the building where it was located also had a Nepalese grocery and other items shop,  so it looked like this building served the local Nepalese Migrant workers, on a smaller size to the restaurant.
